How to Install a Cut-to-Length Line mold?
Time : 2025-08-13

Installing a Cut-to-Length Line mold is a critical step in ensuring accurate cutting and long-lasting performance for your metal shearing production line. A properly installed mold will improve production efficiency, reduce downtime, and minimize material waste.

In this guide, we provide a detailed step-by-step installation process for both the punching die and the cutting die, along with important tips to ensure safety and precision.

1. Prepare the Lower Die Guide Columns

  • Position the four guide columns of the lower die (already ground by the horizontal shearing machine) in their original matching positions.

  • Install the unloading plate.

  • Adjust the lead screw to its lowest position.

  • Insert the lead screw through the four holes in the lower die.

2. Position and Secure the Lower Die

  • Move the lower die so it rests against the two rear supports.

  • Tighten the two fixing screws on the left and right sides.

  • Install two nuts and washers on each of the four lead screws.

3. Install the Punching Die (Upper Die)

  • One person gently lifts the punching die above the lead screws and aligns it with the screw holes.

  • Two people:

    • Use one hand to lift the upper die.

    • Use the other hand to raise the ball spring on the die frame guide pillar to the highest position.

  • Align the upper die guide sleeve with the lower die ball guide pillar.

  • Lower the upper die slowly and evenly.

4. Install the Cutting Die Upper Part

  • Follow the same steps as for the punching die.

  • Adjust the lower end of the cutting die to fully align with the cutting edge of the lower die.

5. Tighten and Adjust the Mold

  • Tighten the four nuts on the mold.

  • Adjust the upper die to its highest position.

6. Test the Punching Die

  • Slightly move the punching die until it can punch through smoothly.

  • Place a piece of test material under the unloading plate.

  • Press the punching button to confirm proper function.

7. Final Locking

  • Tighten the lower fixed nuts on the upper die screw rod to complete the installation.
