Automatic Tool Change Machining Center: Disc Type Vs. Straight Type
Time : 2024-05-29

There are two main types of automatic tool change machining centers commonly seen on the market: disc type and straight type, and the standard configuration is usually 12 tools. Although both models provide 12 tools, there are differences in their tool change methods. So what is the difference between these two types?

1. Difference in additional space

Disc type automatic tool change machining center: It can be equipped with a single tool magazine with 16 tools according to customer needs, or another tool magazine with 12 tools can be added to form a double tool magazine with 24 tools.

Straight type automatic tool change machining center: The number of tools is standard, that is, the top configuration, and there is no additional space. If the production needs exceed the demand for 12 tools, it is more appropriate to choose a disc type tool change machining center.

2. Differences in applicable products

Disc type automatic tool change machining center: It is suitable for door panel processing, but for the processing of punching, grooving, cutting, etc. of the cabinet, the speed may be affected, and accuracy is more important.

Inline automatic tool change machining center: more suitable for cabinet and door panel processing, can meet the requirements of precision and speed at the same time, more suitable for OEM business, and has a wider range of production capacity.

3. Differences in failure rate and use cost

Disc automatic tool change machining center: more complicated to use, more accessories such as servo tool magazine required for tool change, so the failure rate is higher and the use cost is relatively high.

Inline automatic tool change machining center: simpler than disc type, with lower failure rate, and lower consumption cost and accessory cost in the later stage.

In summary, when choosing an automatic tool change machining center, it is necessary to choose according to product demand, production efficiency and cost considerations, combined with the characteristics of different types.
